Ten months to ICSP14: save the date!

Time is flying and about 300 days remain to the 14th International Conference on Shot Peening (ICSP14), hosted at Politecnico di Milano (Italy), 7th-10th September 2020.
Whoever recently looked at the website would have noticed how the different tasks are progressing: if you have not checked the website, yet, please take a look at the subjects,  the list of the plenary lecturers and their exiting titles as well as at the sessions, the exhibitors and the social events. The abstract submission is open till the end of December 2019.
ICSP14 is the ideal forum for discussing and learning about mechanical surface treatments, such as shot peening, laser peening, cavitation peening, flap peening, hammer peening, deep rolling, burnishing and so on.
Special emphasis will be placed on the latest developments in the light of various new manufacturing technologies. I am thinking of additive manufacturing processes: we all know that post-processing of the surfaces is an essential factor for the success of additive manufactured parts, and shot peening and allied processes can play a fundamental role in improving the surface state of those parts. At the same time, we know that there is a lot of work to be done to determine the best peening parameters for AM parts: ICSP14 is the right place to discuss that. And how about the implementation of Industry 4.0 concepts in peening processes?: we are receiving many abstracts on this topical subject, as well.
I could go on with traditional and new applications of the peening processes, such as how to use shot peening to obtain super hydrophobic surfaces, but I‘ll stop here and invite you, the reader, to check out www.icsp14.org.
Let me add just a few words about the venue. Milan is an exiting city, with many historical monuments and architecture masterpieces, is one of the international capitals of fashion and design, and has just been appointed to organize and host the Winter Olympic Games in 2026!  I am sure you will enjoy a walk in the centre of the city, a visit to the museums, or an outdoor aperitif along the channel Save the date and see you at ICSP14!
