Bietigheim-Bissingen, May 21, 2014 – Dürr has opened a modern technology center for painting technology in Japan today. At the Dürr Technology Center in Tokyo-Funabashi, Japanese carmakers will be able to evaluate new Dürr products and carry out painting tests. The technology center was established with the support of the Japanese partner company Parker Engineering.

At the inauguration ceremony, Ralf W. Dieter, CEO of Dürr AG, said the following in the presence of some 100 guests in Tokyo: "As a leading technology enterprise, Dürr has the objective to support the Japanese automotive industry with high-tech solutions to generate maximum production efficiency. This is why we have invested in Japan."

The technology center is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art painting technologies. These include painting robots, various atomizers and other application technology products as well as the energy-saving dry separation system EcoDryScrubber, conveyor technology and a car body oven. "Our customers will find a top-quality and leading-edge test paint line in Funabashi," said Ralf W. Dieter.

The technology center located on the company premises of Parker Engineering is the first Dürr facility of this kind in Asia. Dürr plans to further extend its sales and service team in Japan so as to be able to give its customers the best possible support also during on-going plant operation.

In the past, Dürr used to supply foreign factories of the Japanese automotive industry in particular. With this investment in Tokyo, the mechanical and plant engineering company now reinforces its presence in the customers' home country. For three years now, Dürr has had a 10 per cent stake in the Japanese paint shop manufacturer Parker Engineering. The two companies recently joined forces in successfully handling various orders for Japanese customers in South East Asia and Japan.
