MFN organized its first event at ARTC
MFN Trainers and Organizers in front of ARTC
Although MFN has been organising educational events in Singapore for nearly fifteen years, this was its first one at ARTC (Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre). ARTC is in partnership with Nanyang Technological University(*). It took place from the 11th to the 13th of November 2014. MFN was allowed to use the new CleanTech 2 (CT2) facility, which had been completed only months before. CT2 offers a workshop with an area of up to 7200 m2 and state-of-the-art industrial-scale machines and technologies.
During the event lasting three days, MFN hosted different courses in the field of surface preparation. The main focus was on shot peening, where the participants could choose from three levels of technological background. In addition, separate courses on flap peening and mass finishing were conducted. All these courses are accepted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Upon passing the optional tests, participants received FAA-recognised certificates of achievements.
For the first time, a one-day course on "residual stresses and their measurements" was integrated into the program in Singapore. Besides the theoretical classes, practical training on the XRD equipment itself was carried out.
Due to the greater number of courses, two classrooms were used simultaneously. During the breaks, the participants had access to a trade show that displayed technologies developed by related industries.
In order to meet the expectations of the highly-educated crowd visiting this event, in future, MFN plans to add scientific classes to the workshop program. The goal is to repeat these workshops at ARTC on a yearly base and to continuously improve the educational program with new or revised classes.
MFN's Education Division teaches over 1000 persons a year and offers courses in nine languages. The MFN team consists of more than sixty members with different technical expertise and maintains three training centres in Germany, Holland and Brazil.
MFN would like to thank ARTC and Abrasive Engineering for the outstanding support that turned this event into a great success!
Best Regards
