SONACA NMF Canada Expands Its Operation And Announces A $17 Million Investment For The Expansion Of Its Mirabel Plant

Mirabel, October 11, 2007 – Sonaca NMF Canada announces an investment of $17 Million to expand its operations and its manufacturing plant in Mirabel.

This initiative is motivated by the positive outlook of the industry and by the upsurge in orders for existing programs from its major customers: Bombardier, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Embraer and Israel Aircraft Industries.

Sonaca NMF Canada manufactures and assembles wing panels as well as structural parts for the aviation industry worldwide.

The plant’s total size will grow from 130,000 to 215, 000 square feet and the production capacity will increase between 30 and 50% depending on the sector of activity. This will allow the start-up of new manufacturing programs and will improve the company’s overall product offering by allowing for the manufacture and assembly of larger components. It will also enable Sonaca NMF to produce more integrated parts than elementary pieces.

«This investment will allow us to consolidate our role as an integrator and confirm our leadership in the manufacturing and assembly of wing panels and structural parts for the aviation industry worldwide. Our increased production capacity and the technological enhancement of our installations will be a factor in recognising Sonaca NMF as a major player in the Quebec aerospace industry.» according to Philippe Hoste, Chief Executive Officer at Sonaca NMF Canada.

Sonaca NMF Canada has been awarded the Quebec Aerospace Association (AQA) Enterprise of the Year Award for 2007. This recognition is attributed to the company’s overall accomplishments, to the growth of its earnings and exports and to the exceptional development of its overall business activities

This expansion is done in partnership with Investissement Québec and the Economic Development Agency of Canada who have respectively granted loans of $ 2 Million and $1 Million to the corporation. The remainder of the financing will be obtained from Sonaca NMF’s financial partners, notably, Le Fonds de solidarité FTQ and  GE Capital.

The announcement was made in the presence of the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Minister of Tourism, and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, of Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière?Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Jean Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, and of Michel Lauzon, substituting Mayor of Mirabel.

Through this investment, Sonaca NMF will substantially increase its earnings, is expected to create 75 new jobs by 2009, and will generate important economic impacts for the greater Montreal area.
